4" pots - Item #SUP101
These terra-cotta colored pots measure 4" (top diameter) by 3.5" (height) by 3" (bottom diameter) and are square: square pots fit together better than round ones and waste less space. This is a very useful size: I use them for seedlings that have outgrown their 6-cell packs but aren't ready to go outdoors yet. You can also grow small plants in them.
Quantity - One unit equals six pots.
Please note: This item has an additional shipping charge of $3.00 (to cover the cost of a cardboard box plus additional mailing charges). The additional shipping charge is included in the price of $4.80.

Each 6-cell pack will hold six seedlings. I use these to start all my seeds. I've experimented with many other containers for starting seeds, and finally standardized on the 6-cell packs - I find them easier to use and have better results with them. They are space-efficient and don't tip over (the way foam cups, etc., do). Eight of these packs will fit into a standard 10" x 20" plastic flat (if you use flats). You can also put them into foil pans (or anything else that will serve as a saucer) and put them on a sunny window sill. The cell packs can be reused and should last for several years with reasonable care: mine have lasted for at least five years before eventually becoming so fragile that they tear. They should be washed between uses, and briefly soaked in a weak chlorine bleach/water solution before being rinsed and let dry for reuse. (10% chlorine bleach and 90% water will be fine.) We are selling them in units (sets) of six (each set consists of six 6-cell packs).
Quantity - One unit equals six 6-cell packs.
Please note: This item has an additional shipping charge of $3.00 (to cover the cost of a cardboard box plus additional mailing charges). The additional shipping charge is included in the price of $4.40.

Flower Pouches - Item #SUP103 OUT OF STOCK!!!!
Dark green UV-resistant, re-usable, woven laminated polyethylene pouches are 14" long, not counting the hangers (handles). Counting the hangers, they are 20" long. The tubular-shaped pouches are 7" in diameter when held open. When folded flat, their width is 12". Each pouch has 12 holes for planting strawberries, or trailing flowers such as nasturtiums, petunias, or ivy geranium, or even lettuce or some of the smaller herbs. These are not weak plastic like many flower pouches. In fact, they are said to be the world's strongest flower pouches. Flower pouches are much used in Europe, I understand, but are only now really catching on in the USA. They're a great idea: you can fasten hangers to your front porch or your deck (or anywhere else with full sun) and hang the pouches from them. They would also work well hung from the "shepherd's crook" type of metal pole used to support birdfeeders. I'll be trying them out this summer, both on the front porch (nasturtiums, most likely) and on the deck (strawberries, for sure). (Strawberries are pretty plants with white blossoms, and I'd love to have strawberries hanging on the front porch too: but it would just be inviting the local deer to indulge in strawberries for dessert. So I'll save the the strawberries for the deck, which is in the fenced and dog-protected back yard.) We are selling these in units (sets) of two.
Quantity - One unit (set) equals two flower pouches.
Please note: This item has an additional shipping charge of $1.20 (to cover the cost of an oversized envelope plus additional mailing charges). The additional shipping charge is included in the price of $5.40.

Labels, White Plastic - Item #SUP104
White plastic plant labels, 4" x 5/8". You can write on these with either a pencil or a marking pen: I like to use a pencil. The penciled writing stays there until you wash it off - and then you can re-use the label. We are selling these in units (sets) of 12 labels.
Quantity - One unit equals 12 labels.

Water-holding crystals - Item #SUP105
Water-holding crystals are a long-lasting, easy to use, super-absorbent cross-linked polyacrylamide (polymer) and are used as a soil amendment to extend the time between waterings and/or to improve the growth rate of plants. Dry, they look like tiny pebbles. Fully hydrated, they look like chunks of clear ice or clear gelatin. They are safe to use and handle (you can squish the fully-hydrated crystals between your fingers, they are pleasant to touch). (But don't get them in your eyes, or eat them, or allow children or animals to get them in their eyes or eat them.) The crystals are used hydrated: soak them first, then mix them in with the potting soil for plants that are being first potted or repotted. A sheet of full directions is sent with each order of crystals (and includes directions for mixing them in the soil of an existing pot).
These crystals also have craft uses, by the way, and are used as a rooting medium for cuttings. The crystals will absorb food colorings in water, and then you have colored glittery "ice" . Without the food coloring, you have clear glittery "ice". I've seen them used sprinkled on mirrors that were underneath bowls of flowers, used as centerpieces at a wedding: it was really lovely. They are also colored and used in clear vases of flower arrangements. Very versatile.
Quantity - One unit equals 1/4 cup of (dry) crystals.

Window Screening, Fiberglass - Item # SUP106 Use this to cover the drain holes in pots so the soil doesn't fall out. "But what about putting broken pieces of old clay pots or pebbles in the bottom of the pots?" you may ask. In a word: don't. It just takes up room needed by the plant's roots and encourages the growth of mold and fungus. If you are using a potting soil or soilless mix suitable for containers (and I certainly hope you are), it will not compact and you don't need the rocks or broken bits of clay pots. For pots with very small drainage holes, I don't bother with the screening. For pots with larger drainage holes (which are better for the plants), I do use the screening. This is ordinary fiberglass window screen as used on windows in the US and available at almost any hardware store in the US. We are selling it as a convenience for customers who might not be able to get to a hardware store. You can cut it easily with household scissors. We're selling this in a 1' x 3' piece (3 square feet), which will cover the bottom of quite a few pots.
Quantity - One 1' x 3' piece of fiberglass window screening.
